Reviews
She canceled on us at 8am when she was to be there are 10am. We scrambled and found someone else who covered our trip. When we told her we didn't need her she was angry and called me at 11pm to complain. For some reason, she was completely unable to call the baby's mother even when we texted and emailed the number to her. I wish we had listened to the other reviews.
I called some of her references and she was recommended as an experienced child care professional in Vail. Susi had a lot of helpful tips before our vacation and was only available 2 out of the 3 days of our trip. She was kind enough to reach out to her network and find another sitter for the day she was not available. She required 100% of the payment up front, $25/hr & 7 hr minimum. On the first day of her arrival she brought toys and did a thorough safety check of the home we rented. Our 10 month old was happy at the end of the day when we returned. However, after Day 1, Susi claimed that she had a normal client whose grandmother suddenly got sick that she needed to watch the next day, asking if it was okay if she brought her to our condo. She did not offer to refund any money and expected that it would be no problem. When we questioned this situation, we were made to feel guilty for not being accommodating, even though we had pre-paid for 100% of her time with our child. When my husband called her back to address the matter (while bend over backward friendly), she claimed she wasn't charging the other family. It's less about the money, or even the other child, and more that we felt forced to yield to her in this matter, lest we anger the person watching our child the next day. In the end, the resolution was for the Day-3 provider to watch our son for the remainder of the trip. This solution proved to be best, as things had started to get weird with Susi. The other care provider was positively lovely and came to watch our son exclusively. She was paid from the check we sent Susi in the mail. Finally, when at the end of the trip, a couple of the baby toys were nowhere to be found (surely an honest mistake), we called Susi to ask if she could help us find them. She became quite gruff, saying "When will it end with you people?" I found her attitude to be both disappointing and disconcerting, as this was the person who had been watching our pre-speech infant.
