Marla’s Bio
I am a mother of two amazing, and now grown, children. My daughter is 23 and my son is 17. I have always had a passion for children. I began babysitting when I was 10 years old. By the age of 13, I had multiple families I would nanny for over weekends and all summer. In Highschool I became a volunteer for CASA which was so rewarding. I worked with and counseled families (parents and children) having difficulties within the home. I would advocate to courts with recommendations and updates as to the best interests of children, and progress with in the home. In college I studied Criminal Justice and worked as a Detention Specialist in a Juvenile Detention Center. My objective was to listen and provide guidance to these troubled youth in an effort to make a difference in as many as possible. Upon graduating with my degree, I became a Parole Officer for youth and young adults. These were invaluable experiences which provided me with various perspectives and helped shaped who I am today…as a mother, daughter, friend, and member of society. Upon having my own children, I volunteered at my church as an AWANA Leader.
Children need to be heard, loved, guided, and provided with stability and a safe environment to grow and thrive. They look up to and mimic what they see and hear from those around them.
Working with children in various circumstances over the course of my life has Blessed me in countless ways, and I want to continue having these opportunities in the years to come. I am Trustworthy, Fun-Loving, Caring, Dependable…and would be honored to have the opportunity to share in the lives of your children!
