My experiences with caregiving really began with child-care about 10 years ago, but my experiences caregiving for adults really began when my grandmother developed dementia in 2019. Since her diagnosis, I've assisted a lot with her daily activities, like accompaniment on walks, perusing her garden, grocery shopping, transportation to medical appointments, help with feeding, medication administration, cooking, help bathing/changing, laundry, etc. Upon going to college, I started working with several families, doing caregiving/aide work with folks with cognitive/developmental delays. I've had anywhere from 1-5 families that I've worked with simultaneously. My responsibilities vary, but often it's a lot of walks, arts and crafts, help with meals, assistance with daily activities, and transportation to activities.
