Rachel’s Bio
My named is Rachel, I have worked with developmental disable/non-disable children/adults for over 25 years. *18 years as an F/T Asst. Supervisor/Behavioral Specialist. *8 years as a P/T Direct Care Specialist/Professional for a private residence with 1 1/2 years of rehabilitation/speech for a 2 different young men injured in automobile accidents. *8 years as a P/T/and currently as a sub contractor Community Integration Specialist. In 2011 I retired to take care of my then soon to be grandson who was born with Hypohdrotic Ectodermal Dysplasia. He lived with me and I was his F/T care-provider for 6 1/2 years, also home schooled him pre-k though kindergarten. Last summer he moved away and I have found I have a lot of free time. So in October I started working again and was employed as a nanny for a 4-year-old boy, but in December his grandmother was lucky enough to move closer and now takes care of him. I am a nurturer by nature. I love children, animals, mother nature and being able to maybe make a difference no matter how small.

Rachel just started looking in on my puppy (Dodge) recently to make sure he is a happy camper. So far Rachel has been reliable, affectionate towards Dodge and would recommend to others seeking similar help.
(Follow up review after hiring Rachel for a second week to take care of my 11 mo old son during the workday) She is hands down an exceptional sitter / care provider -- positive, prompt, intuitive about my son's needs, communicative about the details of how each day went, and clean. She understands children's needs, how to communicate at their level, and she keeps things very active and fun (outdoor play, books, games, pretend..) My son even took his first steps with Rachel's patient guidance and support!!! I feel really fortunate to have Rachel to call on when in need of caregiving help.
I hired Rachel to care for my 9 month old son for 5 days, 4 hours/day. She was on-time, consistent, professional, and most important of all -- amazing with my baby. Excellent at basic care like diaper changes, feedings, and putting him down for naps. Excellent at mentally stimulating him. She played with my son in so many different ways -- songs, games, pretend play, going outdoors. He had so much fun!!! She explained things to him as they were engaging in activities and really treated him like a person. It's very clear that she has a wealth of experience working with children. She makes the right decisions about nuanced/grey-area questions like whether he's had enough to eat or whether he needs to go down for a nap. I can't say enough about how great she was and what a relief it was to have someone mature, safe and skilled taking care of my son. I trust her and highly recommend her.
