While in high school I did some volunteer work at a senior assisted living center. The type of work that I did involved keeping the seniors company. Going on walks with them, sitting and having conversations with them, reading to them, playing games with them, etc. Growing up my living grandparents did not live close to me so I really enjoy spending time with people from older generations. Even if that means just sitting and listening to their stories. My great grandpa lives in Montana and when I am able to visit him I could, and do, sit for hours and listen to him. It is a great learning experience for me, and I think he enjoys my company as well.
I also understand that some senior care is more involved than just spending quality time with someone. I believe that a lot of the experience that I have from childcare transfers over to senior care. I understand that sometimes seniors need help eating and cleaning up after themselves as well.
