My father developed kidney failure when I was in junior high. I insisted on take part in his care. My father and I never really had a very close relationship until then. It helped as bond and I’ve never regretted my decision to care for him. I joined the Navy as a hospital corpsman so that I could care for him in the future. Since then I’ve cared for several families. I’ve worked with ALS patients, CoPD, CHF and stroke victims. Mostly I’ve dealt with Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.
I left the Navy as a psychiatric technician/lvn. Currently I have the knowledge and experience but not the certification. I’m currently registered in good standing with the CDSS. I earned a CNA title in 2010. I’ve used CPR three times to save lives. I can probably teach patient care it’s second nature to me now. Most of my training is irrelevant to the agencies as most are non-medical.
Have experience with all types of cathers. Wound care experience with stage three/four decubitus ulcers(bedsores) can transfer patients safely using different techniques or mechanical for example Hoyer lift. Extensive expert with adds and showering/bedbaths.
I enjoying watching my clients enjoying themselves when they realize they’re truly safe. Earning there trust and increasing their quality of life is what I strive for. See them returning to former hobbies or pursuits. Or maybe just watching movies or listening to to music.
