I initially started working with the elderly because my degree was in Therapeutic Recreation but I soon learned that what I loved was being able to help them stay in their home by providing assistance or simply companionship. I have been very fortunate to have had long term clients that simply wanted someone to keep them company and provide basic care such as transportation or shopping, however I can also help with light housework, laundry and cooking. I have been doing this for over 20 years and since I am older myself I find that my clients can easily relate to me and we generally have hours where we just sit and talk over coffee. I also love animals and enjoy helping with their pets. I am meticulous regarding medications making sure they are given on time. I am not looking for full time employment.
