Karen’s Bio
* I now have a California home care license, they do a Background check.
I have loved children since I was a child. At age 5, my best friend's mother was a nurse. I admired & loved her mother & wanted to be a nurse too. When it was ime to choose college courses, I chose to take the RN program & made natural resources courses my 2nd priority.. I do love the outdoors & had hobbies such as several types of skiing, fishing, & was lucky to have an older neighbor with his life immersed in horses. He had been a sheep rancher then head of trails and horse/mule packing in Glacier National Park. His hobby was packing with horses in the mountains. I got to do some of that with him.
I believe much in honoring our parents. I also believe a[l people need good care and nutrition. That means augmenting the medical system with individualized additional care. After 20 yrs working in various areas of nursing, especially in the hospital. I took intensive care of 1st my Father, for 12 years, until his precious life passed. My Mother's need for care overlapped with my Father's more than 1 1/2 yrs. She had been independent then had 2 strokes & other problems. My Mother's care was over 8 yrs. A total of 18 years continuously caring for both parents. They were in & out of nursing homes & hospitals, yet their health & prosperity exceeded all expectations when they were at home under my direction, & not the institutions'. I was able to give my parents intensive care with the help of a physically strong caregiver for heavier duties. I prefer dogs & do enjoy some cats, & may like other pets. I enjoy being playful with kids & reading with them. I adored my several grandparents & older relatives. While doing nursing work I liked being with the older people.
I just completed a year contract caring for an 86 year old woman with moderate dementia at her home. Included promoting new healthier guidance buying foods,
Thank You, Karen
