My name is Jennifer Laird, a two sport Division I athlete who graduated from Saint Mary's College with my Bachelor's in Business and Psychology in 2021 and with my MBA in 2022. During my years at Saint Mary's, I worked at St. Stephen's Church in their nursery and cared for children ages 6 mo - 3 years. During this time, I enjoyed creating daily engaging activities for the children while also providing a safe and comfortable environment for all age groups. I also worked as a summer camp coach for Saint Mary's Volleyball, coached for Red Rock Beach Volleyball Club, and organized private outdoor volleyball lessons during Covid. Shortly after graduate school, I worked for a nonprofit based in Austin, Texas called Code2College, which provided underprivileged high school students with coding education and computer software internships. Although I loved working within the nonprofit sector, I felt that my role in administration was too far removed from the hands-on care of others. I stepped down from my role as Executive Assistant to the CEO in January of this year and began my journey in the health sector. I completed a Certified Nursing Assistant course with San Diego Medical College in March 2024 and through my clinical rotation, I worked within a nursing home practicing hands-on activities of daily living care of geriatric patients. I plan to begin nursing courses in the Fall to continue my education as well and am looking to start working this Summer 2024!
