Clara’s Bio
My name is Clara. I am a mature twenty year old who recently moved from Vancouver, Canada to complete my studies at Berkeley. I love reading, baking, long walks, and good conversation.
Although I have no formal training as a caregiver, I am familiar with hospices, hospitals, and the nuances of caring for vulnerable members of my community.
When I was in High School my grandfather spent several months in Primary Care before being moved to a Hospice. I spent most of my waking hours with him - asking questions, helping him eat, tidying up his room - and was by his side when he passed away. This experience instilled me with an intense compassion for end-of-life care and a resilience to the extreme humanness that comes of ageing. I am comfortable with grief.
Throughout my youth, I have also cared extensively for my grandmother, who is unable to walk and requires a lot of help maintaining her household. My friends have typically been the older members of my community, who I would often visit for a cup of tea and a long chat.
I am trained as an Emergency First Responder and have ample paid babysitting experience with children and pets. I currently volunteer at Dorothy Day House to help with meal prep and serving breakfasts to homeless individuals in Berkeley. I have a car and am happy to undertake any form of grocery shopping or errands within the area.
Thank you for considering me!
