I have experience doing both childcare and care for elderly individuals. In addition to raising 3 children, I have worked as a toddler teacher at Mother’s Day Out, done childcare for various churches/nurseries, and substitute taught from elementary through high school. I just love children. They bring me joy and I liked the fact that I could find work to which I could bring my children when they were younger.
I also worked as a caregiver for my grandmother in her last days with dementia. Duties included cooking/cleaning, helping her to the restroom, helping her dress, and simply keeping her company and keeping her calm during moments of confusion. I did this every weekend for about a year. (My family lives in another part of the state, so traveling there every day with young kids was not an option). I loved my grandmother and appreciated the opportunity to give back to her since she had treated me so well growing up. Everyone deserves that. I like giving back.
