I am 54 yrs old, and my degree is in Human Dev/Social Services, which I utilized as Director of Social Services in several nursing homes before having my children. I loved working in geriatrics, but chose to stay home with my 4 children for 25 yrs. My most recent experience was as a companion to an 75 yr old woman with dementia living independently in a retirement home. As her condition worsened, we moved her to assisted living, memory care then finally a nursing home where she passed away. I developed a great loving relationship with this woman, took her to appointments, shopping, did light housekeeping and meal prep, but mostly provided much needed companionship. My mother was diagnosed with early stage dementia right after my dear friend passed away, and I became her caretaker. She passed away from COVID 6 months ago, and other than providing support and housecleaning for my father once a week, I desperately miss the feeling of having a purpose in someone’s ilife, to help with whatever needs he/she may have. I have personal references, and could be a huge benefit to someone in need of assistance of all kinds. My schedule is extremely flexible, and I am only looking for a part time income.
