- $20.00 per hour

My aging father has been taking care of my mother full-time, but we have a family event that we need to attend. She doesn't want to go, and without a strong caregiver to replace him, he will miss this event and the chance to see his family that he hasn't seen in ten years. My mother was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM) in 2001. She has been non-weight bearing since 2013 and immobile since 2019. She is 5'9" and weighs approximately 180 lbs. Care is needed daily from 11 AM to 11 PM, with flexibility for occasional overnight care. She requires assistance with all activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, feeding, and toileting. She also needs help with repositioning to prevent bedsores and assistance with mobility using a wheelchair.
The caregiver will need to assist with personal care such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. They will prepare and assist with meals, ensuring dietary needs are met. Medication management is essential, including administering medications as prescribed and monitoring for any side effects. Mobility assistance is required to help with transferring from bed to wheelchair, repositioning in bed, and ensuring safety during movement. Transportation to medical appointments and social activities is also needed. Light housekeeping related to the patient's care, such as laundry and maintaining a clean and safe environment, is part of the job. Companionship is important to engage in conversation and activities to provide emotional support and mental stimulation.
The caregiver must be CPR and First Aid certified, have previous experience in providing total care for immobile patients, possess strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to handle the physical demands of the job.
