My uncle just returned to his home in Dayton, TN, where he previously lived alone, from a week in the ICU. He now cannot drive and has restricted mobility, using a walker for short distances and a wheelchair for longer distances. He will need help with meals, household chores, scheduling and making it to recurring medical appointments on time. He is quite polite, humorous, has a very positive outlook on life, and gets along with people well. Though his family does not live close, we have been taking turns staying with him to provide support (his brother is currently living with him). Our hope is that he will continue to become more independent as he recovers and may be driving again (he does love his cars) in about 4-6 months, but that is still to be determined. In the meantime, he sure could use some good help.
