We are looking for a companion for my soon-to-be 85-year-old dad.
We found an excellent nursing student my dad really likes through SitterCity, but right now she is available only one day a week.
My dad is mobile with a walker, uses the toilet, feeds himself, and washes and dresses mostly by himself.
My two siblings and I work full-time, so even the days we work remotely, we are not available to interact and entertain him during working hours. My brother works remotely in the basement and my sister will either be in the house or working in the office.
Primarily we are looking for a companion to keep him occupied for 5-6 hours for an additional 2 weekdays.
Responsibilities include preparing breakfast and doing his dishes, going for walks, prompting him to do his exercises, doing puzzles or games, talking with him, and possibly driving to and accompanying him to PT or doctor's appointments.
We are located in Flushing, Queens, and the closest public transit is the LIRR (2 blocks away), not the 7 subway (1.5 miles away and requires a bus ride from Main St), so best fit is someone who lives in Northern Queens or Northwestern Nassau or has a car.
