Hi, we are the Longs! We have two boys, ages 6 (1st grade) & 9 (4th grade) and are looking for after school care for them. We are a dual-military family but luckily our hours here in MD are pretty consistent, so we are home by 5:30 most days. The boys are bright and easy going. We limit screens during the week, so that’s the hardest part about watching them! But they love to play outside or on rainy days build Legos and forts, so entertaining them isn’t too challenging.
Wait for/ pick-up the boys at the bus stop and then care for them until a parent gets home. This might include providing them with an after school snack, helping with homework and entertaining them with activities. Occasional light meal-prep, tidying up any of their messes may be needed. And on the rare occasion they may need shuttled to sports practice close by. Also, we can offer extended hours on days when the boys are out of school, if sitter is available.
