I live with my girlfriend and have two boys (4, 7) occasionally. We usually make the most of time with the boys but sometimes have conflicts where we need some support in the afternoon/evenings.
Manage dinner and snacks before bed, bedtime routine and just play in the meantime!
We have a dog that will likely keep to herself but might need dinner too depending on the schedule.
