Hi there, my name is Nicole! I'm 27 years old, and for the past eight years I've been working in the medical field as a Phlebotomist. My one true passion has always been child care and child development. I have yet to meet a kiddo (or parent) I don't get along with! I work well with children of all ages and backgrounds, and especially love the challenge of working with children who have special needs. About me: •Patient, empathetic, energetic, and respectful •CPR certified (pending) •First aid certified (pending) •Started sitting at age 12 after completing a community child care program •Experience caring for newborns-14y/o •Experience caring for up to four kids at once •Owner of a reliable, safe, small SUV, purchased new in 2018 •ER experience has trained me to be collected and rational in emergency situations •Flexible hours and days •Prior certified swimming instructor •In my freetime I Read more enjoy swimming, ice skating kayaking, comedy shows, trading stocks, and learning about real estate. I'm also a proud member of the Plymouth Community Concert Band as a percussionist! Play: I like to involve myself as much as possible during play. Kids love my silly voices, creative ideas, willingness to get down in the dirt, and eagerness to try new things. I'm excited and willing to participate and supervise anything, from art projects to sports, puzzles to guided excercises, count me in! I also have been known to turn chores like cleaning up, folding laundry, and shopping, into fun competitive games! Discipline Style: My favorite technique is to get on the child's level, inquire about the reason behind negative behavior, explain why the behavior isn't okay, guide breathing excercises if there are tears, and ask them to take some private time for reflection. Then together we come up with a plan to make amends and find better solutions for the future. *This is a personal preference, and changes will be made in accordance to family structure and special requests. Cooking: Kitchen time can be an extension of playtime and an excellent way to introduce basic math and reading, when time allows. Cracking eggs, measuring, stirring, and even reading recipes makes mealtime fun and rewarding, (especially for otherwise picky eaters!) I myself am a big fan of healthy, easy recipes, such as one pot recipes, stir-fries, and casseroles. Thank you for your consideration! -Nicole G.
