I began babysitting at the age of 13. At family gatherings and dinners I would watch all the younger family members including, 4 boys, ages 2, 4, 8, and 11. I also would watch 2 girls who were 5 and 7 at the time. I continued on to watch other children in the neighboorhood and and family friends. Being very energetic and outgoing, watching kids came easy to me and I became very good at it. I continued to babysit here and there throughout the years. I was a part time over-night sitter for a family with three children. The oldest at 9, and two fraternal twins who are 6. I watched them from 3 in the afternoon when they got home from school until 8 in the morning when they got on the bus. This included, making an afterschool snack, dinner, bathting, bedtime, and getting dressed and breakfast in Read more the morning. These weren't the same hours that I would normally babysit, but I really enjoyed it. I have also worked as a coach in a childrens gym. Teaching gymnastic, dance, and circus arts to kids from the ages of 2-13. This was a great experience. I learned to watch very large groups as well as work with ADD/ADHD children. Working at this gym showed me a broad spectrum of children and how different they can be. I have seen with children of all different temperaments and personalities and have learned to adapt to them. During college, I began nannying for a family of 4 children, full-time, after-school and during the summer. In this position, I picked the children up after school, drove them to extracurricular activities, prepared meals, helped with homework and school projects, as well as created new ideas and learning opportunities through day-today activities. I continued to work for this family for 2 years and still stay in contact with them. Most recently, I have provided tutoring and babysitting serviced for a pd of third graders and 5th graders. I worked with students during school hours to ensure they were engaged and understanding the class material. In this position, I was responsible for providing them with a snack, lunch, and continued supervision after school. I have always loved watching children. Whether it's going to the park, doing arts and crafts, watching a movie, or doing schoolwork, it's always something new. It's like no other job. You're not sitting at a desk all day. Instead you're moving around, being active, laughing, and having fun! I truly love babysitting and find it incredibly rewarding.
