Hi families! I'm Abbey. I grew up babysitting kids in my neighborhood and community, then, after college while working in the specialty coffee industry, I became an on-call babysitter for multiple families (infants to pre-teens) and an ongoing, part-time nanny for the sweetest boy! Soon after, when trying to figure out how I wanted to use my degree in Sociology, I discovered my passion for working in child welfare, specifically with families and kids in foster care. In my most recent job in that field, my main role was to train prospective resource (foster) and adoptive parents to be the best parents they could be to the kids who needed a safe place to land. With that, I'm also trauma-inform trained, and hold many other certifications in areas like CPR/AED & 1st Aid, child development, implicit bias, mandated reporting, and more. I strongly believe these are important skills when working Read more with kiddos from all backgrounds. On a more personal note - I'm a singer/songwriter and one of the main reasons I left my job in foster care/adoption was to seek more flexibility in my work so that I could spend more time making music and investing in that part of my life, while also just really missing spending time with and caring for kids! I love baking & cooking, hanging out with my husband at our home in Pasadena, and spoiling our rescue-kitty! I can't wait to meet you and your little ones!
