Hello, I want to introduce myself to you. My name is Claire. I studied and earned an Degree in Early Childhood Education. I also earned 4 Certificates in all phases of Child development from the State of Washington. I also earned a Degree in Psychology with emphasis in Music and Theater.. During my Student teaching and Practicum, I taught children from age 1 to 6 years. My first 2 quarters were learning to teach and all aspects of infant care from 4 weeks to 1 year. During my Practicum and Student teaching, I also had the opportunity to teach children with various disabilities which was especially rewarding. I learned far more than my students! They taught me! Compassion, empathy, respect, a depth of understanding and patience is utmost important to me. Children are to be loved and valued; they are the world’s most precious and priceless commodity. Children need to Read more be listened to and know they are loved. I give this to all children. I respect the family, I check with them to ensure how I interact, play and teach lines up with their values. Keeping confidences is very important and vital yo be a loyal and trusted person in the home. I sometimes use puppets to interact with a child. Often the child will respond and share with the puppet rather than an adult. read, play games and use various ideas to bring out the child’s creative and imaginative side that lives within them. Having the child draw a story and tell the story. This is helpful to bring out their imagination and speech. Open ended questions also is beneficial to teach critical thinking and develop their cognitive abilities . Physical, emotional and cognitive play are vital in their development. Spending time outdoors is something I love to do everyday. Taking walks while learning about birds, flowers, trees, clouds and splashing in puddles. Building s snowman if we are lucky enough to have snow in Puget Sound! For me, teaching, playing and showing a child how wonderful they are and why by being a joyful, loving, kind and warm person in their life. Showing them how valuable they are is a very high calling that I take very seriously. Thank you for taking the time to read this profile. (:
