I have previously babysat for my neighbors who have two girls aged 4 and 6. I volunteered for ten weeks at Mary's Place, an emergency shelter for women and children. Specifically, I worked in the Kid's Club, where I assisted children with homework and games. Many of these children endured traumatic housing situations, some showing this through a lack of communication, others through hyperactivity and anger. My volunteer work at Mary's Place taught me patience and adaptability, with the understanding that every child has different needs and world-views. Working customer service for the past three years has taught me to treat every person I meet with equal levels of compassion -- children are no different. I enjoy making a fun, energetic, and safe environment for all children I work with.
