Meet Esther

I am a freshman at Western Washington University. I moved to Fidalgo Island in elementary school. Originally I am from Whidbey Island, where I lived on a farm with dogs, cats, horses, pigs, chickens, and six siblings! My three older sisters have ten children between them. The eldest had her first kid when I was nine, and I have watched her kids and the other's kids since I was about twelve! Their ages range from nine to three months old. Along with my nieces and nephews, I helped in the nursery at my church for a couple of years and continued to watch one of the kids from the nursery through high school! I started babysitting her when she was three and continued till she was seven. I was a teacher's aide in high school for a year with a special needs class, going on field trips and helping them Read more every day with all subjects of homework and emotional support. I was also a peer tutor for a sophomore English class where I helped with lesson plans and helped students one on one. So I have some experience with helping kids with any classwork. I have sold a few paintings but it is mostly a hobby. I go to the gym, read/write, and play the piano. I'm also learning Spanish and just started taking ballet classes. As for formal work experience, I was a waitress during high school. I spent about one year at a local restaurant, a little over another year at a retirement home, and an Ice Cream truck last summer!
