Hello, I am a highly experienced childcare provider, Nanny, and teacher. I honor each family's culture, beliefs, needs, and values by supporting and modeling them with children. My BA degree is in Elementary and Early Childhood Education and I am just finishing my Masters in Teaching Elementary Education. I am a lifelong learner so even though I have been caring for and educating children for 20+ years, I am always learning new things through college, training opportunities, experiences, and relationships. My life's work has been in supporting children of all ages and abilities, and I strive to provide care and teach inclusively and equitably. I have glowing references and extensive background checks through the Arlington School District and DSHS. I have current first aid and CPR as well as other certifications related to childcare. Families I serve have said I am patient, nurturing, empathetic, flexible, kind, and always willing to Read more help. I am skilled at working with young children with challenging and diverse needs. I recognize that parents and guardians are the experts on their children so I am eager to hear what works best for your family. I am happy to follow your lead regarding expectations for your kids, home, pets, and how I work. This also applies to how you would like guidance and discipline (teaching moments) to be addressed, should the need arise. I will NEVER use physical methods of discipline, shaming, belittling, disrespecting, restraining (unless there is danger) forcing, threatening, yelling, or manipulating to help a child learn to follow directions or regain self-control. I will use respectful communication, positive reinforcements, natural and logical consequences, modeling, choices, and a few other methods to teach developmentally appropriate behavior. Some kids need other guidance methods, due to their unique needs and I am happy to discuss your children's individual needs with you. I am an empathetic listener and offer support to families by sharing ideas and tried and true methods that may be helpful on your parenting journey. My experience has been with infants up to teenagers. I am experienced in caring for young children with ADHD and other neurological and physical differences. My superpower is helping children (and adults)calm down by using mindfulness methods, distractions, empathy, problem-solving, restoration, identifying feelings, and self-regulation practices.
