Hello there! My name is Kayla, and I am a graduate from UVM. I got my BA in Secondary Education, in which I had many meaningful experiences, such as mentoring at a Library and interning as a student teacher. I've also worked as an assistant teacher at the Flynn Arts summer camp, and as a toddler teacher at Reach for the Stars daycare for 4 years. My passions include reading, writing, and drawing, and I'm also a huge fan of theater (though I must warn you, I cannot sing). I consider myself a creative person who enjoys finding ways to turn ordinary tasks into fun games. I am in the process of moving to Wilmington, NC from Burlington, VT. I understand how important it is to nurture positive experiences in childhood. Children need reliable and empathetic role models to help foster compassion, self-efficacy, and a sense of belonging. Therefore, my Read more teaching style focuses on restorative practices rather than punishment. Additionally, I understand that each child is a unique individual with their own values and likes/dislikes. Therefore, I take great care to incorporate their interests into my interactions with them.
