Hi, I’m Djamila and I’m a Virginia native. As the oldest of two siblings with a decade gap, it’s no wonder I turned to childcare in volunteer settings as early as 12 years old. Working with children is a passion of mine and I’ll prioritize the needs of your children always. I have six years of experience ranging from infant care (4 months) to elementary age children. My experience also includes working in daycare type settings in toddler rooms and nurseries. I’ve also babysat a plethora of children for families that I met through the daycare. I nannied for two families because of my experience and them having a great time in the daycare setting. Through childcare experience I have also had the opportunity to work with children with special needs. For infants, first and foremost I discuss with the parents what their cues are (hunger, sleep, diaper full), and Read more if we’re in a place where this hasn’t been determined I can absolutely help with that. Once determined that I would create a schedule around these movements. Prioritizing milestones at this age is so important, so lots of activity will be around refining motor skills and taste safe sensory play. As a creative this is always fulfilling to me as well to cultivate these tasks. Once we reach that 6-month mark, I like to encourage their communication (babbles), through reading picture books, narrating everything, and baby sign language. I have experience with an infant with acid reflux and I know how to properly feed them, and how it differs from “normal”. With toddlers my focus is building literacy and creativity through reading, art, and imaginative play. I would also like to start building autonomy at this age so including them in the organization of toys and familiarizing them with food. As your child’s nanny I can guarantee to create a space of safety, learning, and comfort in your home. My intentions are to assist your child in reaching their developmental goals while also providing them with heartfelt care. With toddlers, I will do light housekeeping that pertains to the child, and I’ll maintain an organized space for when you come home. I look forward to meeting your family!
