AVAILABILITY IN RVA STARTS IN SEPTEMBER Hi parents and other caregivers! People really are telling the truth when they say "it takes a village," aren't they? In a child's life, it's essential for them to have multiple people around them who understand how to work, play, teach, and grow with them - it's what helps them build their foundation for relationships and their responses to life. So, why do I work kids? Because I want to be one of those people! It's so important to me that children have a good foundation growing up. Truly, one of the most important things we focus on as adults is how to continue developing and improving how we care for our children. So, here's how I've worked to be part of the village :-) EDUCATION I earned my BS in psychology with a focus on child psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University. WORK HISTORY Read more I've been a caretaker of kids for almost 8 years now. Most recently I was working in a hospital with mentally ill children to coach them through learning new coping skills, how to process their emotions, and to help them learn what natural consequences are appropriate for their actions. I cared for them for 8 hours a day, with ages ranging from 8-17 years old. DISABILITY I've worked with kids who have various types of ASD, and if your child is on the spectrum I'm excited to learn what ways they enjoy life :-) please message me so we can talk about my work with ASD kids! I'm a type 1 diabetic so if your kiddo has T1D, I'm your gal! I've been managing my diabetes for going on 17 years and am completely comfortable helping kids with theirs. As mentioned in my work history, I've worked with children who have various mental illnesses. This includes but is not limited to: anxiety, depression, SI, and ED, to name the more popular ones. There are many behaviors that come with mental illnesses in children - if you have a child that has one, I'm more than happy to talk with you about my experience caring for that illness, and how we can best make sure they'll be alright in my care. REFERENCES I've cared for children of many backgrounds, so, if you have any questions about my experience relating to children with similar needs as your own, just let me know and I can put you in contact with a reference who can speak to my abilities in that arena :-) I hope I can be the one to bring some much needed help to your household. I look forward to talking with you and learning about your child/children!
