Hello! Beginning in middle school, I started providing babysitting services. In the many, many years since then, I've continued, albeit intermittently, to babysit. I've also worked as a camp counselor, environmental educator, assistant PreK teacher, high school special education teacher, and classroom teacher for 4-5 graders. I am still licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a K-12 Special Education teacher: general curriculum. As a result of these many experiences, I've worked with children from preschool age to high school seniors. One of favorite parts of working with kids and adolescents is seeing their joy, pride, or understanding when a connection is made. One of these "lightbulb moments" that stands out for me is the day that a young student finally mastered the art of pumping her legs. She could now swing on her own! I love animals and would be comfortable in homes with pets. My own dog and flock of chickens provide many humorous anecdotes for me. This time of year, most of my spare time is taken up with the abundance of tomatoes, peppers, and zucchinis that are ripening daily in my garden. I enjoy being creative and always have some new project swimming around in my head that is just waiting to burst out onto the sketch pad or my yard or house.
