I worked at the JCC summer camp last summer (summer of 2023) for 8 weeks, 35 hours a week as a camp counselor for 16-20 five to six year olds. I love talking to children, listening to their funny stories and hearing how they perceive the world. I love playing games and drawing with children. I especially enjoyed reading them stories. My time at J-Camp taught me how to watch over a large group of children, along with how to broker peace when conflict arises. I became adept at transitions: from playing in the room to activity time to pool time to meal time. Overall, I can facilitate children’s enjoyment of summertime while also making sure they get fed, perform the tasks they need to, and stay safe and happy.
