Hi, my name is Julia! I’m a college graduate from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi with a BA in Psychology and a BA in Theatre! I love working with kids, and I have years of experience. I’ve been babysitting since middle school, and since graduating in 2019 I’ve worked in a variety of childcare fields ranging from babies as young as 6 months, up to 10 years old. Post graduation I’ve worked in behavioral therapy in a one on one setting with autistic and other special needs children. After that I spent some time working at a reputable daycare. During my time there I did get experience with ages 6 months to 4 years, and I spent the majority of my time there as a lead teacher in the 2-4 years classroom. Then I spent a semester as a long term special education substitute at an elementary school. There I Read more worked with all elementary ages, but spent the majority of my time working with 2nd and 3rd graders. The next year, I was hired at the same school as a special education teacher. In my year there I worked with grades K-5. For one semester I worked as the special education teacher in an autism communications classroom. I believe that kids need love, respect, and patience, and that is what I keep in mind every time I’m working with or taking care of children. Children are constantly growing and learning, and as an adult it’s my responsibility to properly teach them how to succeed. When possible I try to cater my childcare style to the parenting style already in place. I think it’s really important for children to have consistency in order to better understand and absorb anything they are taught. I also believe that it’s the parent’s choice how their child should be raised, and I would never want to interfere with what a parent knows is best for their child. Raising children takes a village, and it’s extremely important for that village to collaborate and all work together! I have a lot of personal experience working in the arts as well, so when appropriate I love to bring that into my work when caring for children. I love seeing how unique every child is! Letting them explore and learn through different creative outlets is one of my passions. I also love to cook, so I love preparing meals and snacks for the kids I take care of. I really enjoy helping children with their schoolwork. I’ve spent time tutoring and working with special education students in one on one and group settings. I believe that education is extremely important!
