Hi! I am currently a second year student at Texas Tech University pursuing a degree in Human Development Family Sciences with hopes to become a Child Life Specialist! I have considerable experience in childcare, primarily through taking care of my own nephews and nieces. My journey began with my oldest nephew, who is now 5 years old. I started looking after him when he was just 1 year old, providing care 2 to 3 times a week. While this was occasionally paid work, it was mostly voluntary because of my close relationship with him. Which is why I put 0 years of experience in paid babysitting! Later, I began caring for my niece, who is now 2 years old. I take care of her during breaks and over the summer when I go home. Similarly, I have experience with my younger nephew, who is now 14 months old. I started Read more caring for him when he was about 7 months old, especially because he was a preemie and required special attention, including breathing treatments and specific types of formula/milk. Patience, time management, and responsibility are huge skills I definitely have and have enhanced these through my experience with my own nephews and niece. Of course I have skills in diaper changing, creativity, homework helping, specific medication/ treatment needed, and very basic cooking skills. I also have my own car which allows me to be extremely flexible with schedule such as picking up kids from school, taking them to extra curricular activities, and simply having my own reliable transportation in case of emergency or just as needed!
