Dear Family, My name is Xavier. I am an 19-year-old male American student. I have loved in the United States my entire life and I am planning in studying in the United States or abroad. My hometown is Dallas, Texas. I am the youngest of three children in my family. I have one sister named Ileana and one brother named Louis. Both of my siblings have graduated with a bachelor and are pursuing their masters. My mother and father are both from Mexico and migrated to the United States in the 1980’s. My mother, Silvia, is a self-employed housekeeper/nanny and my father, Xavier, is a machine operator for a Japanese corporation. I plan to follow in the footsteps of my siblings and attain a graduate degree. Currently I am set on majoring in marketing and psychology and minoring in political science. I have an associate degree in science and medicine, Read more and I also have my high school degree. I have been accepted to many universities, but I still have no idea which one to attend to and I feel like I have to take a break to decide on which school to go to. My first languages are Spanish and English. These were the languages that my parents thought me as a child, and languages I have continued to refine as I grew up. I have a basic understanding of the French language and I am continuing to expand my knowledge of French by taking weekly lessons. Experience with childcare has been something that I have had tons of experience with since I was 14. I started my childcare experience by volunteering in my church’s nursery, taking care of 3-7-year-olds. I’ve also had informal childcare experiences by taking care of my nieces and nephew who were at that time 2, 5, and 8 years old. Formal childcare experience is something I have been doing for the past two years: I volunteer for my church every weekend, I volunteer for the Barbara Bush foundation for before school and afterschool childcare, and I have a job at a swim school where I spend on average 6-7 hour per day with kids. I am CPR certified for adults, kids, and babies as well. I enjoy spending time with kids as it brings much joy to my life to see kids happy, laughing, giggling, dancing, and singing. I can say without doubt that I have played an important role in the manner in which my nieces and nephews were raised. I also work at Child Development Center that specializes in learning through play in the fall and spring semester while I’m studying at my university. On my downtime I love to read and listen to music. I also love to play the violin time as I find it helps me relax and take my minds off things. I can work with children form the age of 1-14 years of age. I am quite a flexible person and can adapt to a schedule. I would be very happy to speak to you and answer any question or doubts that you may have and to learn more about your family, expectations and preferences.
