I am a former after school care worker at LISD. I worked at Coyote Ridge Elementary in the Extended School Day Program in 2023. I also worked at YMCA summer 2034 and last school year at two school, Kent Elementary and Gooch Elementary 2023-2024. Working in child care is the only job where, if I no matter what personal trouble could be happening in life, I could walk into work and any personal problems vanished instantly. I enjoyed getting to know and bond with every kid in their own way. The only part of the job I have ever disliked is the last day of school or camp, when I have to say goodbye to so many amazing kids and usually get very teary eyed. I became an aunt at 11 years old (my older half brother was quite a bit older) so I started helping out with babysitting ant an early age (2 decades ago) and now have a total of 2 nieces and 2 nephews. My favorite thing to do in the world is when we have “sleepover at Grammys” and watch movies, build forts and make “big pillows.” I enjoy their company more than adults sometimes, because they remind me the world is still a beautiful place. I am particularly good at creating crafts (usually found on Pinterest) and I am also very good at find the perfect balance at being a friend but also making sure I’m respected as the adult caretaker. I am also very observant on playground to make sure no one is taking a dangerous risk and making sure we are sharing like we are suppose to. I highly emphasize talking to parents in depth to make sure I am aware of their boundaries with their children and to maintain them. It’s important to me to make sure the parents have a thorough discussion with me about what is and isn’t allowed for the kids, as I know many families are different. I will ask questions about your boundaries as a parent for clarification, because child care is not just taking care of the kiddos, I also need to make sure their environment is consistent and safe with boundaries staying intact. I have an open schedule at the moment, certain days and times are not an issue (as long as I have no other plans) but I do need to work a limited number of hours a week.
