Hi there! My name is Sarah Norris. I am 22 years old, and I am a sophomore in college, working towards getting my degree in elementary education. Before college, I was a preschool teacher at a daycare for three years, and absolutely loved it. During my time at the daycare, I gained lots of experience in teaching my students the alphabet, identifying colors, writing their name, counting 1-10, and all of the different shapes. We also would talk, read, or sing about the different seasons, animals, and insects. I had daily experience in potty training, nap time, outdoor and indoor safety, creating fun arts and crafts, preparing snacks, going on nature walks, and incorporating learning through play. Because my personality tends to be more on the quiet and calming side, I am easily able to calm and reassure an upset or scared child. To be completely honest, I was CPR Read more and first aid certified, but I’m not sure if it has expired. I am more than happy to get them renewed, if need be. As I said before, I am aware of dangers children can get themselves into whether it be outdoor or indoor. My daycare required at least 18 hours of trainings to be taken each year by each employee. Many of these trainings cover topics dealing with safety precautions. I have experience babysitting ages 2 months-12 years old. Currently, I babysit ages 3 - 8, but I am willing to take older or younger. I have done school drop off and pick up, meal times, bedtime routines, took the children out to eat or play at a park, helped with nighttime feedings, and monitored and gave insulin shots to one with diabetes. At my daycare, I had 11 four-year-old students (by myself), and I have babysat up to 7 children at one time. I take great thought into following each parent’s guidelines and household rules for myself, and the children in my care. I realize that it is not easy to entrust your child to someone new, so I always make sure to stay within the guidelines. I am able to provide several references upon request. I am available anytime after 2 o’clock on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. I am also available most Saturdays as well.
