I am an education student at Winthrop University. I have experience working with children ranging from newborns to high schoolers. I am currently employed at Oakland Baptist Church as an ESOL support for the children of families taking English courses. I also spent a year working at a Montessori school as a classroom aid in my home town. Also in my home town, I have volunteered in my church nursery and children's ministry four hours every Sunday, and was a VBS group leader. I also chaperone middle school and high school retreats and camps through my home town church. Every summer, I choose a family in my hometown that I nanny for the summer. The children I have nannied over the summer age's range from two to ten. I also currently babysit for a family in Tega Cay for the occasional date night outing, or I also sometimes spend the Read more weekend at their home with the kids while they go on a short trip. Additionally, I have experience tutoring in elementary math, science, reading, writing and history, as well as SAT/ACT prep. As an English education major, I have extensive experience editing and revising written work from the middle school level up to lower undergraduate level. I am very passionate about child development and growth. While I babysit, I enjoy doing crafts, cooking, playing outside, reading books, and participating with the kids in imaginative and creative play. I believe that every moment with a child is an opportunity to teach them something, so that is what I strive to do. I do not believe in placing children in-front of a screen to simply occupy them for long periods of time, but rather encourage them to get moving, get creative, and simply enjoy being a child! I love to babysit because it give me an opportunity to help child grow, as well as give parents a night out where they can feel safe and comfortable that their child is in good hands.
