about me . . . I have been working with children in different capacities for at least 40 years. I began by babysitting small children of the parents in our church. Approximately the same time I began volunteering in the Totally Mentally Handicapped classroom at the high school I attended. And no, they do not call it that any longer. We have come a long way in research, terminology, and especially teaching strategies since those days. I am sad about some of those changes and others I am extatic about. Since High School I have been to college several time while working and have become a mom to two children who are now grown.
