Hi! My name is Marissa, I am a first year student in college where I’m studying special needs education and human services. I grew up in Philadelphia and later graduated from conestoga high school(right outside the Philly school district). Along with attending conestoga, I also graduated from a technical college high school where I studied early childcare education and got a lot of experience under my belt. I have worked 2 summers in a childcare center, one being infants and toddlers, and the other being an autistic support preschool. Additionally, I have had various internships and work opportunities at schools like renaissance academy, chesterbrook academy, and TCHS pickering’s preschool. In this time I have gotten various certifications and training such as CPR, first-aid, completion of BetterKidCare online course, etc. I also have my TB test and shots and I have all of my clearances like fingerprints and background checks and Read more plenty of references that I have available upon request:). These certifications are to work in a childcare center in the state of pennsylvania, however, I am slowly getting them transferred to Florida but it takes some time and I only recently moved to Jacksonville where I will be staying the next 4 years for my school. I plan on studying to be a special education specialist and entering the field of speech pathology or spectrum support. I l love to be outside, and I love going for runs. I play rugby and I used to row (plan on starting racing again once I’m settled) and I love doing art, I’ve found that kids tend to enjoy my hobbies which is always nice! I constantly try my best at trying to be more entertaining than a tablet and although it isn’t easy I love spending quality time with my students and I make it a huge priority in my work as it’s crucial to the social-emotional development of a child. I am pretty flexible with my schedule and I respond pretty quickly, so please let me know if you need anything or have more questions!
