I am a 27-year-old graduate of Ursinus College with a B. A. degree in political science and postgraduate certification in paralegal studies. I’ve always loved playing/working with children. During my Sophomore and Junior of High School, I was a babysitter for one main family (newborn-infant girl and 2-year-old boy). This position started in Jan 2010 and ended in May 2011. I worked with the family providing childcare after school (Mon-Wed 3:30pm-6:30pm), weekends (Sat-Sun 9am-3pm) and full-time during the summer of 2010. This scheduled continued throughout the next school year. Before entering my senior year, I spent 3 months as a volunteer providing care to newborns, infants, and school-aged children in an orphanage in Benji, China. That helped me understand the power of play and nonverbal communication due to the language barrier. My passion to work with children grew, I worked as a teacher’s aid providing classroom support and care to Read more 2–3-year-old children with AED. During college, I took multiple Early Childhood Education courses. My junior year of college, I worked as an after-school tutor and mentor to 2nd and 3rd grade children with behavioral and learning differences. After graduation, I spent a year working as a nanny to a 7-year-old girl before ultimately making the decision to go back to school. In 2018, I received my Paralegal Certificate (Community College of Philadelphia, 2018). In addition, I have a Notary License and a Certification in Adult, Child and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED (provided by the American Red Cross). After almost 3 years working as a Paralegal, I realized how separated the job is from direct work with children. It is office-based and sedentary. I thrive on my connection with others and miss the joy of working with children directly. This realization led to my decision to take a break from the legal world to pursue my passion to work with children again. Since April of this year, I've spent a lot of time taking care of my nephew (6-months). I also spend a lot of time taking care of and playing with my stepfather's grandchildren (an infant, 2 in pre-school, and in middle school), especially during a family get together and holidays! I am fully covid-vaccinated (booster and flu shot included). I am willing to provide proof of vaccination upon request. I also can provide copies of my PA Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Clearance (no record), upon request as well. I am available to start immediately.
