Hello! I am a third-year Lewis & Clark Law student looking to work as a babysitter/nanny. I am Red Cross babysitter certified, and a paid child caregiver for 13 years. I have always babysat, and became close with the families that I sat for. In my previous home in England there were several families with children whose ages ranged from 2-13 that I sat for almost every weekend. This past summer I worked at a highly regarded summer school, Oxford Royale Academy, as a counselor for children who were 13-15 years old. In England I also started an after-school support group at a local community center for girls from low-income or potentially abusive families with a friend of mine. This group took off and for two years my friend and I attended the group with about 10-13 girls every week. The group is still thriving although both of us have Read more left. My experience with this group has been very important to me - it taught me how to be emotionally available and open with children when they want you to be. It also allowed me to really hone in my disciplinary skills, and find a perfect balance of sternness depending on the situation. During my undergrad in Boston, I was hired onto an exclusive babysitting agency, and babysat for well over 100 families through them, as well as a nine-month nannying position. I have always absolutely loved working with children, and I am hoping to find a family in the Portland area that will grant me the responsibility of watching theirs.
