I'm a nanny/tutor with over 11 years professional experience providing loving direction for children in both individual family and nanny-share settings. I've worked with children aged 1 - 12 years, with the majority of my experience being with 2-7 yr olds, and I also have many years of volunteer experience in youth programs for teens. I'm very comfortable with, and have proven competence in, caring for several children at once, and my teaching / childcare approach is based on showing deep reverence for children - giving them the encouragement to explore the world while developing good habits - and providing a loving and confident safety net for them to count on. My goal is for every child to feel truly cherished and happy. I work closely with parents to ensure the highest quality care and direction for their wonderful children. Emotional intelligence, academic curiosity, deductive reasoning, creativity, empathy, and age-appropriate responsibility are strongly encouraged. I'll also document & report child development milestones to parents, and and like to have ongoing, open communication with them. I believe it is important to not only think of what a child needs in the present, but to also keep in mind what helpful skills they will need ahead in life. Therefore I try to help children gain strong confidence in themselves, encourage them to explore the world around them, and help them develop a healthy sense of self-reliance. This may look like: studying the natural sciences, ample reading time, solving puzzles, and praising them for their curiosity. My approach implements Montessori and 'Love and Logic' principles, as I feel these systems deeply honor children and provide the guidance they need to flourish. Also very comfortable following a school-provided curriculum/homework load. I'm a certified childcare provider by WA State, and have been trained in infant and child CPR (although I need to update my certification, which I'm more than happy to do).
