Hi there! My name is Hilary. I am 28 years old and originally from the Truckee/Lake Tahoe area. I have been in the childcare industry to varying degrees for approximately 14 years. Growing up, babysitting was always my favorite way to earn extra income and my interest in working with kids really progressed when I was in college. While in school at the University of Oregon I worked for the Eugene Family Cooperation Center. This school partners with the U o f O to provide education to the children of students and faculty and operates on the Reggio Emilia Philosophy. I LOVED it! I worked in classrooms with infants to three year olds, aiding in all daily activities from nap times, meal times and indoor and outdoor exploration - often times in a classroom filled with 7 toddlers. The Reggio Emilia Philosophy created a foundation of autonomy in all aspects Read more of the children’s day, along with hands-on experiential and play-based learning. 5 years ago, I was a lead teacher in a Pre-Kindergarten classroom of 20 students at Schibel Teaching Farm in Bend. The school was founded on the principals of outdoor play and learning by being in nature. I created lesson plans, cultivated interesting and fun crafts and projects, and coordinated graduation at the end of the year. My responsibilities also included maintaining an environment of open communication with parents and ensuring transparency in every interaction. Further, I helped students engage with daily tasks on our farm such as grooming and feeding animals, gardening, and even using fresh food from our garden to cook meals in class. Along with my childcare experience, I've worked for an active travel/cycling company, Backroads, for the last 6 years. I have recently decided to go back to school for nursing and am looking to nanny/babysit when I'm not studying or doing school work. We moved to Bend full time a year ago and spend lots of time mountain biking, running, babysitting my niece and taking our dog to the river. I look forward to meeting you and your family! -Hilary
