To whom it may concern, As a recent graduate from Knox College with a B.S. in psychology and an emphasis on adolescent development, I’m confident that my knowledge of family systems, experience in child care and household management would make me an asset to your family. As a longtime child caretaker, I genuinely believe it is a privilege to be a part of a child’s village, and I take this opportunity very seriously. If allowed to be a part of your child’s village, I would love to combine my passion for children and knowledge of adolescent development to help keep your children happy and healthy. I think a healthy combination of routine, spontaneity, monitoring, and trust is very beneficial for children. In previous families, I liked to establish a routine with each individual child that they felt was best for them. Allowing children to have a say in their own Read more routines and lives creates self-confidence and autonomy. Every child is different and requires different strategies, activities, and focus to succeed. As a previous tutor, and nanny to a recently diagnosed dyslexic, I have much experience with adapting and changing to what benefits the child the most. Outside of academics, I think it is important for children to garner a healthy lifestyle and social life as much as possible. Engaging in activities like swimming, other sports, art, and volunteer work allows children to grow passions outside of school that I would love to help create. I have extensive experience with children of all ages, abilities, backgrounds, and the requirements of their families. I believe that my experience in child care, diversity, and inclusion, combined with my education in trauma psychology and child development, would make me a great asset and addition to your family’s village. I’ve attached my resume, which details my skills and educational background. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about my background. I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you further; thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Carmen Benoit (she/her)
