I am currently the Drama Director and Auditorium Manager for the Hamilton City School District, regularly working with 100+ teenagers. I am also the Head Acting Teacher at the Hamilton Acting & Music School, a summer camp for ages 8-12. Our typical enrollment is 50 kids, which I have taught alone, as well as with other teachers. I also currently work in our MD program as an Educational Assistant. In addition to my current jobs, I have also held many other childcare positions. I was the Education Coordinator for the Boys & Girls Club of Hamilton. Before that, I worked at the Boys Club of New York (NYC) as a Learning Center Tutor and Playroom Supervisor for ages 5-8. I have worked in several day cares, in addition to babysitting for multiple families. I was also an active member of Big Brothers/Big Sisters when I lived on the East Coast. Read more I am fluent in English and Spanish. I am also proficient in ASL. While living in the Czech Republic, I taught English and Theatre to 9th graders for a semester as part of an exchange program. I prefer to be active when babysitting kids. I do not like TV, unless it's an educational program. I prefer to play outside with the kids or, in bad weather, do arts & crafts or play board games. I will allow TV when the kids are sick or as a reward for good behavior, but I try to keep the TV off and the kids active. I am able to do cooking and light housework to help out the parents, as I understand how overwhelming life can be. I also try to get the kids active in helping with these things. One of my strengths with kids is getting them excited to do things like cooking or cleaning by making it into a game. I have experience in multiple ages, from newborn to teenager. I have babysat for 1 kid and up to 8 kids alone. I once sat for a family with 2 sets of twins and a single birther. That was loads of fun! Due to my background in education, I can help kids with homework (in fact, fun doesn't start until homework is done), as well as tutor kids in a variety of subjects (math above calculus is not my strong suit, however.) I can sit kids in your home or take them to a park or similar recreation sight. I cannot sit kids at my own house because of my roommate's work schedule and house renovations. I do apologize for any inconvenience.
