Hello my name is Laurie, I am 45 years old and I live in Westchester County. I have been employed with Southern Westchester BOCES since 2007 and work on Rye Lake campus in their TSP (therapeutic support program) class. My class consist of children with severe emotional and behavioral issues among various learning disabilities. During my time at Boces I became employed with Achieve I Beyond-Pediatric Therapy & Autism Services in 2013 and worked until 2015. My job as a Behavioral Therapist was to Implement behavior support plans to decrease problem behavior and also teach functional skills such as communication, self-help, social play and compliance. Extensive use of Applied Behavior Analysis (A.B.A.) Pairing with the learner (1.1 direct therapy) and building a positive relationship. Follow behavior plans written by BCBA. Keeping the student on task as well as errorless teaching to decrease frustration in the student; data collection; data entry, Read more and providing parent training. Manding- the learner requests items/activities; organizational skills -helping the student get organized in everyday life. I am a graduate of the college of New Rochelle, where I obtained my bachelors degree in psychology. I am CPR/AED trained (2023) and I currently hold my NYS Teaching Assistant certification; to obtain that certification I had to be fingerprinted by the state of NY, pass the NYS Assessment of Teaching Assistant Skill's exam, completion of NYS mandated training in Child Abuse Identification and Reporting and completion of the NYS mandated training on School Violence and intervention. I have 20+ years experience working in the childcare field. I’m also a single mom to two daughters (one is in her second year of college and my younger daughter - both are in college. I’ve raised them alone since my youngest was 6 months old. I’m an aunt to 5 nieces and nephews, two of them being toddlers (ages 5 and 4). I am very responsible, assertive, caring and nurturing.
