Hello! My name is Shannon and I love providing child care for families. With over 16 years of paid child care experience (in addition to being the eldest of 4 siblings) I have learned that my personality, skillset, energy and most of all adaptability make me a great fit for providing care for a wide range of family situations and parenting styles. I am a trained crisis counselor, which helps me greatly navigating any issues, tantrums or inter-sibling fights along the way. I am also a certified educator, I spent the last ten years developing and leading environmental education field trips and lessons. I bring this experience and love for explorative teaching into my caregiving. My approach to child care is balancing fun and exploration with learning and following 'rules' (meaning whatever the rules are the parents have set)- sometimes these moments aren't as 'fun' - but I find that Read more the greater the level of mutual respect between care giver and the child, the happier overall the child will be (even if I am the mean guy for a few moments). My favorite things to do with kids is play games, explore outside, read, sing, dance, arts and crafts- and yes even making chores fun! I have a reliable and safe vehicle (Subaru) and depending on parents comfort levels, I enjoy bringing kids out to playgrounds or parks. I have experience helping with homework and drop offs to practices. I am very pet friendly. Non-smoker.
