I am 29 years old and have many years of experience caring for children, through jobs and coursework. I have a bachelor's degree in child development. I have recently returned from a year in Australia, where I was a live-in Au pair/nanny for two different families. My first Au pair experience was with two boys, ages 7 and 8. I was responsible for school drop-offs and pick-ups, packing lunches, and after school care. After school, I served as a liaison between school and home, prepared snacks, supervised homework completion, and provided transport to various after school activities. I cared for two girls in my second Au pair experience, 2 and 4 years old. I was responsible for getting them up in the morning, preparing breakfast, helping them get dressed, and getting the 4-year-old ready for preschool, which she attended 2. 5 days a week. After the school drop off, I Read more organized activities for the 2-year-old, including play dates and outings to the museum. I also supervised swim lessons and helped the 2-year-old in the pool. Both of these jobs required me to be flexible, creative and organized. In college, I was a part of a youth mentoring program where children from the area came to campus for a few hours a week. We used this time to play games, help with homework, and do crafts as well as teach lessons about health and fitness. I also joined the mentoring program for older students, where a life skills class from the local high school came to campus one afternoon a week. These students had disabilities ranging from ADHD to Down Syndrome, and coming to campus encouraged them to push themselves to graduate high school and apply for colleges. I was also a tutor, and have experience in helping with homework for students in grades 4 to 7. In my free time, I enjoy reading, biking, and playing guitar.
