I am a caring, high-energy, and enthusiastic college graduate with twenty years of experience in child care. I am currently pursuing a second bachelor's degree in an accelerated track nursing program at Binghamton University. I am a certified lactation consultant and served in this capacity on a postpartum unit at a hospital in Queens, NY for two years prior to beginning to the nursing program. Before that, I offered in-home postpartum support as a doula in the NYC area. While undergoing training to become a doula, I worked as a babysitter and nanny for several NYC families. My entry into child care stretches even beyond that, however. I began baby-sitting for neighborhood families over summer breaks when I was thirteen years old. Around this time, I completed two baby-sitting courses offered at a local community center. Following this, I sought out a job working in the child care center of Read more a local gym for two years. This work experience opened up a number of opportunities to sit for families that frequented the gym, privately. While in college, I took over a job for my sister while she was away at school, providing care to triplet boys. From there, I was referred to a family seeking a mother's helper/babysitter. I assisted that family for two years. During this time, I interned for a program in the community that provided support to pregnant and parenting teens. Regarding certifications, I am Basic Life Support-certified through the American Heart Association. I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant and a DONA-training postpartum doula. I have received Narcan training through the NYS DOH. Additionally, I am a NYS Mandated Reporter of Child Abuse. My varied experiences have immersed me in all aspects of child development, child needs, and expected routines for children of all ages. I am a very competent, capable, warm, caring, and fun sitter, and I welcome the opportunity to meet, engage with, offer care to families in the community.
