Caring for children has honestly been what I've most enjoyed all of my life. I love the ability to be silly and have fun with little ones. I started when I was young as a babysitter in my neighborhood, and then as a nanny when I was in college. I have worked at an in-home daycare as a teaching assistant, ran an afterschool program for pre-schoolers, and I also was a head teacher for a 3 year old pre-k room at a daycare center. I was most recently a full time nanny for a friend for approximately a year while she was in-between daycare providers. I was registered with the county as what they call a legally exempt in-home daycare provider. I have experience working with students with special needs having worked in a school district as a one-to-one aide for a student with Autism, and as well as with Read more a student with Down Syndrome, both were non-speaking. During my time at the school I worked with many students with varying degrees of need from Kindergarten through 8th grade. My youngest child also has special needs, including a diagnosis of epilepsy. He is my youngest of 5. I have a daughter attending college this coming fall of '24 for nursing, and 3 adult children living on their own now. All of this adds up to approximately 30 years of experience caring for children. I grew up in Michigan and attended the University of Michigan graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in English. I do not drink or smoke. My husband and I have been married for 23 years. We have dogs and a cat and we love relaxing at home with our pets. We like to spend time at our camp in Old Forge. As parents we have practiced attachment parenting and gentle parenting. As someone who learned to be compliant and respectful out of fear as a child, I have never wanted my children, or those in my care to be afraid of me. I believe children deserve respect, and I provide kind and gentle care.
