Hello, I'm Kayla! With over 15 years of experience as a professional childcare provider, I take pride in my role as a loving and dedicated Auntie-like caregiver. My educational background includes a BA in Family & Consumer Studies from CUNY Queens College, which some might call Home Economics, but it has been invaluable in my caregiving journey. Being born and raised in Queens, NY, particularly in the Forest Hills neighborhood, has allowed me to develop strong connections with families and children. I firmly believe in adapting to the unique needs of each family and child, which has been crucial in forming and maintaining strong relationships. My attentiveness to their well-being is second to none, and I actively encourage them to be kind to themselves and others. Caring for every member of the family unit comes naturally to me, and I also have experience working with ASD children and other special Read more needs. During my care, I prioritize the physiological well-being, safety, and security of the children. Nutrition is essential, and I ensure that they receive nutritious meals tailored to their dietary requirements. Safety is paramount, and I hold certifications in Basic Life Support training in case of emergencies. My ultimate goals while providing care are to foster love and a sense of belonging in the family, as well as promoting self-esteem in the children. For fun activities, I enjoy narrating books and engaging them in readings, participating in video games (even if not my first choice) to empower them to take the lead, and exploring arts and crafts. Trips to the park with friends and playing sports are also some of the enjoyable moments we share together. Regarding homework, I understand that it's not always a favorite task, but if parents want my support in enforcing a homework schedule, I'm more than willing to assist. At home, I encourage them to play their favorite tunes and enjoy music as a form of entertainment because, after all, music is awesome! In addition to my childcare expertise, I'm currently transitioning my career toward a nursing degree. This means I have some flexibility in my schedule, allowing me to work occasional hours during the day, evenings, and weekends.
