I am patient, warm, nurturing, and have lots of experience with little ones. Besides being a Big Sister (BBBS of the Capital Region) my sister started having kids when I was 13. She was never around much for them. Almost all my time (when I wasn't in school) was spent helping to raise her kids because of that. It was me, my mother and stepmom, and we handled everything. Baths, feedings, an abundance of poopy diapers, head colds, shots, knee boo boos, mean kids at school. When other 16-year-olds had friends in their backseats, I had 3 car seats. That was a lot of fun in a 2-door car! So, after she had 4 girls and a boy, I have come to know the ins and outs of caring for children under 3 years old. Professionally speaking, along with many many other responsibilities, I was the pre-k summer camp director Read more at Sportime for 2 years before becoming a daycare (Eager Explorers) teacher there. A daycare which came to be after my boss saw how much I cared about the little ones, how much thought I put in and how much I rocked the pre-k summer camp! For Eager Explorers (children aged 3-5 yrs old) I became MAT and CPR certified, along with many other certifications including things like child safety, anaphylaxis, brain injuries and AHT, heat sickness, foundations in learning, language (ages birth-5 years) and many others. All of which I could send to you if you would like. Although our enrollment was still low (due to opening late in the year thanks to NYS taking their time with the licensing) when I went out on leave, the last 6 months I spent at Sportime was with 2 very, VERY active little boys (one was 3 years old and one was 4). Every day we practiced gross and fine motor skills, creative play, spent some time on understanding emotions, learned the importance of sharing and working with others, did outdoor activates, and did some NYS based curriculum to help ready them for school. As a personal nanny, I would work on fine motor skill building, (safe) gross motor skill building, lots of reading with focus on sight words, sorting/stacking/counting, work on recognizing emotions, and age-appropriate arts and crafts with color work. And obviously anything mom and dad want us to do! Also, if you are ok with it, maybe do a weekly field trip? 1 day a week (weather permitting) we could get out of the house and discover something new or visit a familiar favorite place!
